//more Zabuza doesn't quite remember his parents, as there was no one of note named Momochi in the neighborhood where he recalls growing up. The first thing he does remember is pain. Pain as teenagers who wanted to join the yakuza just kept on slicing him with knives, punching and kicking him. He doesn't remember standing up as they moved to walk away, one of them stupidly dropping a knife. Nor does he remember picking up the knife, and single-handedly killing every one of the surprised boys. The yakuza who had been watching to grade the boys was shocked, but he took Zabuza to the compound for treatment, and told him that as long as he could follow orders, he would have a roof over his head and food in his stomach. Needless to say, he took up the man on this offer. However, as he got older, Zabuza felt more and more disenchanted with the whole lifestyle. Part of the reason for this was a young boy by the name of Haku that Zabuza had taken under his wing, after finding the child wandering about in the frigid Hokkaido winter. As he had just moved into a run down apartment in the heart of Tokyo, he managed to keep the yakuza from finding out about Haku. He sent the boy to school, but didn't allow him any of the usual comforts of childhood. Instead, he trained the boy in the art of killing. This continued on, even as Zabuza plotted with the Chinese Triad to bring down the very family he was part of. The attempt failed miserably. After a few months of torture (though he retained all of his fingers and toes), they decided to give him another chance. They sent him to San Francisco, to spy on Sosouke Aizen. He doesn't much mind playing the role of bodyguard... It pays better than being a yakuza grunt ever did. |
